I start a new job on the 8th of June. i couldnt be more elated about it. i fucking hate working where i currently work. like my god. K is a lazy shit and pushes all her work on others, which became me since T and B werent there. fuck it whatever. next week i told brian to work 3 days and i will take 2 so i am only working thursday friday (i essentially just gave myself a 7 day weekend). Sat thru tuesday are expected to have gorgeous weather so i plan on roofing it up a few days and get a bit of sun. i dont know but i have a chair to bring upstairs now so i can be comfortable. read some books. but anyway, i am going to be working at a doctors office with 40 hours a week and insurance. IM A BIG GIRL!

In other news, i am going to start saving for a dslr. right now i am looking at the D40 and the D90. thankfully i know people with both of them so i can futz with them both. i’ll prob be leaning toward the D40 since im not really gonna be going all out with cameras. i really just love taking photographs and i hate having to deal with the auto focus on pocket cameras bc they take forever to focus on the things i want them too. anyway that is my next project. i want to learn more about photography. just a little, nothing crazy, but enough. so once i start my next job i will be putting money away for that.

another piece of random. i went to a job fair for my present work (not to recruit new hires but to spread the word that you could be a guinea pig for money). so this guy comes up to the table twice and then S gets up to walk somewhere else and he comes up again and is like i just wanted to tell you that you look good and i would like to hang sometime. i was like wait waah? so i gave him my email bc i didnt want to give my phone number, and he emailed me a few times. i kinda wanna know how old this guy is, he says he went to school already but is going back for another degree. so iiiiiiidk. i think i am gonna do lunch with him on sunday but idk where yet. i should probably look into that……. might as well get a free meal out of the deal.

wow i just was struggling so hard to get through a post. i just deleted it because it had no structure and i had no idea WHERE i was going with it. I was commenting about jock jams and how itunes had just played the electric slide.

anyway lets not get tooo detailed about that because i will be forced to delete this as well.

On the positive side of things i have great news. i am going to be giving in my 2 weeks notice on the 22nd of may. i can finally tell this place to fuck off and go find someone else to use as an “escape goat” (what show was that just on…..).  why the 22nd of may you ask? well its because i will be starting another job on the 8th of June at a doctors office. It is not something i really want to be doing with the rest of my life but its basically guarenteed work for a year and insurance and slightly better pay which are all things that my job now will not be able to give me, or even try to promise me. Its kinda sad because i really wanted to give my job a solid year before leaving but i really cant wait to leave this fucking place. they drive me crazy. when i try to fix a broken system that they started, they ask me why it didnt start sooner. when i try to organize something so i can work with it better, they ask me why im not doing anything productive. When they cut my hours to  5 hour shifts two or three times a week and i say fuck you and take my full lunch still, people complain. Bitch dont even start, look at the people around you. so and so is getting a hair cut comie back, getting coffee, come back, get lunch, come back, go to the gym, come back. When people take 2 hour lunches and push all of their work on me i am bitter yes but i would not actually say anything to a superior. i would not go out of my way to make your life hell but people seem to thrive on it. thankfully i now have a goal to get to. i have a DAY to say im giving in my two weeks notice. i hope in that time theyget rid of b, not because i dont want him to get work from them (he has another job im not a terrible person), but because i want them to be totally fucked with me leaving.

OMG I JUST FOUND OUT THAT A GUY FROM HOME IN IN JAIL FOR HIS THIRD FUCKING DWI. why the FUCK do people act so moronically. fucking morons. this was not his first, not his second but his THIRD DWI. how do parernts let their children live after the first one? hes the only child.

alright need to go through this logically.

i have been at my current job for 10 months now.

• PROS: i like h.r., b.t., t.r., k.c. and thats about it. i pity some other people there but thats not really counting for much. i enjoy working in the lab with the subjects and with the blood specimens (when we actually have subjects come in). i’m comfortable in what i do and being competant in it.
• CONS: there is no possibility of me getting a f/t possition there ( i am presently per diem which is shit). there is no possibility of getting a raise (i can make this working at jcrew which have have done before). There is no possibility of me getting even 40 hours a week (i get 5 hour days, which can either come twice or 3 times a week). i absolutely hate being there with my entire soul. im no longer happy. i walk down the hall and place a happy little facade on me that is dropped the moment i pass a person in the hall and they can no longer see me. k.m. makes me physically ill when i have to deal with her.

New job: I spoke with this doctor because he actually works at my present job and needs a new person to work with him. he normally gets a student from the nearby uni but he figured since we are having problems he would offer it to someone from work.

• PROS: it seems really easy. I have to basically work a single test with patients and then the rest of the time i have to answer phones and do paperwork (its no dream job i know). i’ll get paid more (still not a great amount but something i can physically live off of). i will be getting a f/t position. i would be getting benefits like health insurance. since its a doctors office so close to not only the uni but also the hospital i might figure out an in with something i legit would want to do.
• CONS: since it is so easy i will be bored out of my mind the second i understand it all. i am working with a breathing test for which i dont care about. it is very far uptown so the commute will suck more (im gonna get up tomorrow and do the commute and see if its a deal breaker).

Now with this its is fairly obvious that i should choose the new possibility. however i am really hung up on the remote possibility of growing at job1, even though i know it wont happen at least for a few months and i have given them nearly a year to actually be worse off than i was when i first started (and now i have rent to pay). i should say fuck them and leave CL. and if i get health insurance i’ll actually be able to go to the doctor when i have shit wrong with me (like right now with my neck ear extreme pain).

so when they fired the MAs they promised me 40 hours a week. after a month or so, b and i were dropped down to 3 days a week and were told that it would be for the month of march. on the 1st, there was a meeting with the CEO who balls out told us that we cannot have a productive second quarter so we are taking a company wide furlong. Now im thinking ok they cant really do much else to our work week, they always need at least one of us around so they cant physically take any more of our days away. well they decided that they wouldnt take away days, just hours. so b and i now get to work from 9-2 on our respective days. which for me is 3 days a week and he works 2. however he has another job thankfully for him. Now for myself, i now have 3 days a week 5 hour days which equals, whats that 1st grade math? oh 5×3=15? yes class 15. 15 hours a week. now if you do the math of my hourly wage times 15 time 2 (bc it is biweekly) then take out the shithead taxes you get about 270-280 which means in a month i’d be getting about 550. which is shit. that doesnt even cover my base rent without utilities. that definitly doesnt cover eating and doesnt even begin to mention my alcohol intake.

to date i have applied for 10 jobs. It is sooo hard to deal with coverletters and resumes and whatnot. i need to fix stuff too…

My company will not do well this quarter. we have gotten the “talk” about how we all have to make sacrifices yadayada. thankfully they cant cut much more of my hours with bt. we already work 3 days a week. this segues nicely into the fact that i need another job. in about 2 weeks i will be done with my phlebotomy course and then i can try to get a second job. hopefully 2-3 days a week.  if i can bring in close to another 500 a week i’d be thrilled bc then i can not only continue eating but also drinking. and what is the city without drinking? currently i will be getting checks every 2 weeks which gives me…. just enough to cover rent if we dont have crazy bills for reasons unknown to me (which tends to happen more often than not!). so tonight marks my class being 1/3 over. just 8 more classes after this. WOOOO. and the 500$ that was put into this will be reimbursed rather quickly once i get a job *cross fingers*

i finally signed up for a phlebotomy course! i was talking to bl and he was like don’t worry girl i got you, there will be a seat waiting, good thing i got all these connects. when they called me back they literally had ONLY one seat left in the next class. so three weeks, monday-thursday 6-9 i will be occupying a class to get a little diploma so i can perform phlebotomy in NY, CT, and NJ. that way i can prob get a job doing that on the weekends/days my present work wont fucking give me to work… watch by the time i finish they will give me 40 hours again. whatevs it will help my resume and my job search, which incidentally is shit since i either need 2 years experience (ive got since last july) or alot more certification/degrees. i need to finish up a year here. god please just let me get a year here!!!!

other than that ive not had anything really happen with me in the last day so I’ll talk about something random. i’ve finished reading Devil in a White City by Erik Larson which is about the Chicago’s world fair in the late 1800’s. It was called the White city in comparison to Chi-towns dark and menacing streets.

Also it was plaster and whitewashed. this fair was epic. in 26 months they constructed this amazing area, with huge buildings with heights that the world had yet to see. it brought many people to tears and brought people back time and time again, even with the exorbitant admission price of 50 cents. brilliant men and women were involved (even Walt Disneys father worked there which people believe helped to shape disney).

The previous world’s fair was in paris. Even today there is a very evident piece of it still surviving: the Effiel Tower. Now when Chicago got word that they could actual host the following fair (over the largest city New York) the lead architects knew that they had to “out effiel effiel.” they thought it wasnt going to be done but there was one man who had an idea, which was shot down multiple times until finally he got his chance. The man’s name was Ferris and he had invented a giant wheel that took passengers well over 200 feet into the air in trolleys that could fit over 30 people each (sadly it was sold as scrap after the fair was completed). It was the largest use of electric energy to date. They used elctric boats, outlined buildings in lights every night, and spotlighted the entire park.

Now since the title is Devil in the White City, you are lead to believe that there is a evil side story. It tells of a man that used the city’s allure to prey on youthful women who moved to chicago alone and very willing to leave their own chaperoned and quiet lifestyles in search of independence and adventure. However they met with Dr. H.H. Holmes (aka Herman Mudgett) who states in his confession years later: “I was born with the devil in me. I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than the poet can help the inspiration to sing.”  At this time Jack the Ripper was loose in London, but instead of discovering dead prostitutes in various areas of the city, his victims’ disappearances went unnoticed or he lead family and police on wild goose chases with planned stories to various other countries.  His charm not only managed to persuade the doe eyed youths he killed but also men held in high regard in society.  He had made a lifestyle as a pharmacist and hotel manager, employing mostly vulnerable women coming from wealthy backgrounds, and when the World fair actual began he turned many men away from his hotel in order to keep the rooms filled with only women.  He constructed a “castle”  which contained various airtight rooms that had gas valves located in his personal quarters, a kiln that could heat to extreme temperatures, and that guests always said smelled of chemicals.  He would kill them passively, usually chloroformed or gassed. He enjoyed the power he had over them. He would then disect them and sell their skeletons to medical centers for learning. It is not known how many people he actual killed which is intriguing. He never fully confessed to everything but he was known to kill at least 3 children, their father and about 7 other women. Some believe the numbers were in hundreds.

anyway i really enjoyed the book a lot and even though i kinda exposed most of it, it is really interesting to read about if you are into historical events. Every quote in the book is actually from a historical document. It is just amazing that in 1893, with terrible soil, fires, colapsing buildings, storms off the lakes, and so many deaths, a city could be brought up and compel people to visit even as banks crumbled around them.

ive never been so overwhelmed at work. it started last week with PJ telling me that i need to be certified with Infection Control and Hazmat. now this could have been accomplished 2 weeks, during the slow, pitiful weeks of the holidays. nope not happening. now we were all told on friday that we need to do it by this past monday (HA like we would have time) to this day ive not even looked at the hazmat and i at least printed out the infection control shit. i refuse to take it home with me though so there goes that possibility. anyway. i was then given a project because urine logs were incorrectly done throughout a study and i had to go through 20 of the 80 charts, make copies of the logs and create an excel with the findings, not a bad thing i can handle that, when i am not helping with screening 20 people a day and with no other work station other than the central Nurses station. then i was emailed with a list of charts to go through and find AEs that werent originally AEs but now the company wants them to be AEs, but only if it changes much from a baseline which is different for everyone and we cant easily test that. so yea awesome. brian and i both for lists with about 45 subjects of the 120, then tas and karen got the rest. split between them. then i was given the duty to upload the sources. fuck shit balls man. i would have been fine if i was given this job throughout the study but now i have to upload 120 subjects. there is way too much organizing to do with this. i dont want to!!!! wtf have the 2 who are in charge of data doing back there???? today i finally retired to the back room and hid out back there.

BAH HUMBUG! also since ive been drinking basically every night ive decided that i should prob take a night off from the wine. its not bad but as i was cooking i saw the bottle in the fridge and was like hmmm… wait. NO! i still have will power! yay

But im not running from it yet. im incredibly uncomfortable with this but i dont know what else to do.

Yesterday i went out to a flip cup tourney, we had a team fail as a whole. either way i drank a decent amount of beer. we then we to our fave asian hot spot and i had 3 lycheetini’s. then we went to another place where there was a costume party (which we crashed). not only was their the obligatory sarah palin, but 2 of her friends dressed up like the wildlife that she kills, a moose and a polar bear hahaha). Also there were people dressed up like a team from double dare. i nearly shit myself, i was so excited. either way we got to the train station and decided to get pizza, then one of our party missed her train so we had to wait for an hour. then i made the decision to go to work and sleep there, then work my 9-2 shift. by the time i got to work i decided that it was better to just work from 3 to whenever i left for a morning train. it was a stupid idea but it got me home at 11 as opposed to 5 or 6.

I’m nearly done with the second season of psych. i wont lie to you, its pretty hysterical. im going to give it a solid backing of something to watch if  you have time. my next show to watch is appearently True Blood or whatever the vampire show is. Lion told me to watch it and if i watched that he would watch dexter. since i am on a crusade to have everyone watch Dexter i think it is a fair trade. I’ve finished the second Dexter book as well. it was good, a little more disturbing since i didnt know what was happening (its not a storyline from the show). It involves a man that cuts people up as well, however, he leaves them alive all the way through. It makes my stomach lurch (especially since torture is not on a top 5 faves for me) but i still love Dexter’s character so much i cant help but read along. I just started Dexter in the Dark. we’ll see how that one turns out.

The last post was completely sad sap, end of the world sounding. i was rather frustrated at a bunch of things that came out of nowhere about halfway through that.

anyway, i have read Darkly Dreaming Dexter. I liked some of the things/characters that were different in the book however i liked the way that the show twisted the bloodless killer into something different and more involved in Dexter’s life. i have the next two books which will be on my train ride list. They are incredibly quick reads and are much more like beach reads in my opinion. However i like getting things read while on the train and things like this make it go much faster when i cant sleep.

Tonight i think im gonna be going out with my guys. Deer has other plans so i think it will be just me and them which im fine with bc they are pretty awesome. I owe 2 of them some beer since they beered me the other night when i had no cash. so heres to tabs and hopefully not forgetting my card at the bar again!!!

I was told at work that i am the most well rounded girl they have ever met and that because of that i am the perfect girlfriend. She hears me talk about video games and boy things all the time all while being able to keep the girl things too. Also one of the PA’s, after having me say i was 22, was like wow i thought you were older, you can hold a very mature conversation (this is the same lady who has the most bazaar conversations in front of me).
